Bridges

What is a Bridge? What Are the Benefits?

Dental bridges fit in between a gap created by one or more missing teeth and create an anchor, replacing the missing teeth with artificial teeth. Missing teeth can affect how you chew or speak and cause stress on surrounding teeth.

The process for getting a bridge involves preparing the surrounding teeth by contouring them to allow the crown to fit. Impressions of your teeth will be made to serve as a model for the bridge, pontic and crowns. You may wear a temporary bridge to protect your gums and teeth while your permanent bridge is being made in the lab. Once your bridge is positioned you may require multiple visits to ensure that the proper fit is obtained. It is important that it is comfortable and secure before permanently cemented into place.

The benefits of bridges include:

  • Restoring your smile and ability to chew and speak.
  • Restoring your bite by replacing missing teeth and eliminating pain.
  • Maintaining the shape of your mouth and preventing other teeth from moving.

Bridges will help restore the gaps in your teeth and make sure that proper oral health is maintained. Your smile will be back to normal and looking natural!
